How we work
In Australia, we fundraise and are trying to build a donor base to help support our important projects in Tanzania. We communicate daily with our partner NGO to make sure the funding we provide is being used as requested by individual donors or in the area of greatest need. This regular communication also helps us keep track of the wellbeing of our students, staff, and community members.
We keep our donor community engaged by regular social media posts and are fortunate to have exposure in print and news media.
We collaborate with our partner NGO to develop programs and projects that directly impact those most in need. Working closely together means that all needs are taken into account, as well as respecting the traditions and culture of those we aim to help.
In Tanzania, we work with CHETI NGO to provide resources and materials that have been identified as a priority for the wellbeing of Cheti School students, the widows, and the Sokon 1 community. Maeve and Zuma meet regularly with community leaders and others in the not-for-profit sector to ensure that we are flexible and responsive to changing needs and conditions.
What we do
We work in the rural communities in and surrounding Arusha in northern Tanzania.
help build schools
provide funds needed for projects
assist with maintenance and administrative costs
supply school and play equipment
run girl’s and women’s empowerment projects and workshops
manage micro-finance loans for young mothers and widows
support the boys’ orphanage attached to our partner NGO
Why we work in Tanzania
Tanzania is a vibrant East African country with beautiful landscapes and humble people, however it is;
one of the ten poorest countries in Africa
3.6 million (approx.) children aged 7-17 years out of school
Until recently, by law girls are expelled from and banned from returning to school before, during, and after pregnancy. The ramifications of these laws are still felt by those excluded from the education system.
If a child does not pass the end of Primary School National exams, they will not be allowed to progress onto Secondary School.
By working closely with our Tanzanian partners, we are able to assess, plan and introduce activities that do not conflict with local values or beliefs. We respect the cultural heritage of the Tanzanian people and communities and do not wish to impose and activities they would be opposed to.

Cheti Schools
The Cheti Schools project encompasses a wide range of initiatives that aim to provide skills and opportunities for every student. This project provides the funds for essential items, from toilet soap and stationary to laptops. Cheti Schools is made up of eight schools, seven primary and one secondary, located in the Arusha region, from Sokon 1 to Nadasaito.
As part of this project, we also support the boys’ hostel (orphanage) located at Cheti 5. We provide the funding to purchase food and when possible to supply clothing and personal items for the boys.
We are currently working on establishing a library at Cheti 5, so the students can broaden their knowledge with both fiction and non fiction books.
Project Poppy
Project Poppy is a women’s empowerment project which seeks to improve the lives of the women who need support in the local community.
We currently support thirty widows with micro-finance loans, allowing them to invest in small business enterprises and providing them with a degree of financial independence. These loans are repaid where possible, and the money is reinvested in future loans.
We plan to grow this project and build a vocational centre where women can attend to learn basic life and business skills, to support themselves and their families.

Donate today and change lives tomorrow
Any donation, big or small, can make a difference in the lives of women and the futures of children at school in Tanzania.
Regular Giving
Giving regularly is the most powerful way to donate.
When you join our community of regular donors, becoming part of our planet bee, your support goes beyond the donations you make. Your consistent generosity has a powerful impact on the way we work, enabling us to strengthen our commitment to helping children in schools and the futures of women.
A monthly donation, providing regular giving support, helps with long term solutions, planning ahead and will help us make a difference through educating children and assisting women with their futures!
Donations
Every dollar makes a difference!
With your help, we can help some of the most disadvantaged children in Tanzania receive an education and help give girls, women and widows an opportunity to receive a basic education and learn life skills so they can support themselves and their families.
When you make a one-time or single donation, you’re helping to keep current programs moving forward smoothly, and you’re helping to fund new projects. You also provide immediate assistance and can support your chosen project!
Since 2018, we have raised over $20,000 from regular giving, donations and fundraisers and more.
As we are a small charity, we take pride in being able to show our supporter exactly how their money is being spent and how it is being used. We believe that the trust of our supporters is vital for the success of Inuka, and for changing the lives of those in Tanzania.
Your support helps change lives
What your donations can do…
Smaller donations are combined so that they can contribute to our ongoing projects and needs.
Where will my regular donations go?
At the moment, our regular donors are supporting Cheti 7 by paying for the teacher and cleaner’s wages. This is vital to the operation of Cheti 7 as it is such a small school. Most of the children in attendance don’t pay school fees as their families cannot afford it, so Zuma pays their school fees out of his own pocket to keep the school running. Without our regular donors support, Cheti 7 would be an even greater financial burden for Zuma.
Zuma and Maeve are thankful everyday for the support of our regular givers, as without them Cheti 7 wouldn’t be as successful as it is!
Inuka is a grass roots organisation that relies solely on donations, accepts no government funding and is politically and religiously impartial. We are committed to transparency and accountability in all our operations.
