Project Poppy

As long as I am president, no pregnant students will be allowed to return to school.
— John Magufuli, Former President of Tanzania - 22 June 2017

Project Poppy is the ‘Promise of Proud Positive Youth’, an initiative to provide education and vocational training to young mothers, single mothers and widows. In Tanzania, it is illegal for girls to go to school if they are pregnant and to return to their studies after having given birth.

Project Poppy will aim to provide basic education, like english and maths, as well as vocational training such as sewing, cooking, accounting and hairdressing, so young girls and women can begin a sustainable future.

Project Poppy is still in it’s development stages. We hope to launch this progressive project in late 2020.
